Orange Chocolate Date Protein Balls

- 1 cup (90g) unflavored protein powder
- ¼ cup (30g) almond flour
- 3 tablespoons (20g) cocoa powder
- a pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- zest of 1 orange
- 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
- 15 fresh pitted Medjool dates , chopped
- Optional toppings: coconut flakes, finely ground pistachios, chopped nuts, cocoa powder
In a bowl, combine together the protein powder, almond flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Transfer to a food processor and add the vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice. Pulse until combined.
Add the dates in batches and pulse until thoroughly combined and you get a smooth dough.
Using a tablespoon, scoop the mixture and make the balls by rolling them between your palms.
Roll each ball in the coating of your choice and enjoy! Any remaining protein balls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
