  • 3/4 stick (3 oz. or 90g) unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup or 4.5 oz (130g) semisweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate
  • 3-4 ripe bananas , mashed (you should get about 1 3/4 cups mashed bananas)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs , slightly beaten
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)
  1. Prepare a 9x9-inch baking pan by greasing it with butter and dusting with flour. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a small saucepan, over very low heat, melt the butter and chocolate (stir frequently). Set aside to cool.

  3. In a bowl, add the mashed bananas and mix them with the vanilla and sugar. Add the eggs and mix until combined.

  4. Sift the flour and salt into the banana mixture and once again mix until combined. If using walnuts, stir them in. Mix in 2/3 of the chocolate and butter mixture until just incorporated.

  5. Spread the mixture in the prepared baking pan. Drizzle the remaining 1/3 of the chocolate and butter mixture on top. Using a spatula, move in and through the mixture to create chocolate streaks.

  6. Bake for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Enjoy!
